چکیده

Perhaps the most prominent characteristic of the electron is the fact that it carries electric charge. Together with the rules of quantum mechanics, the electric forces among electrons and nuclei determine the chemical properties of atoms and molecules. Manipulation of electrons in semiconductors using electric forces, which couple to the charge, is the principle behind the revolution in the electronics industry of the last few decades. Another fundamental feature of electrons is their spin, a property in which the charge apparently spins like a top, endowing the electron with a magnetic dipole moment much like that of a bar magnet. Incorporating and exploiting this spin in microelectronic and optoelectronic applications is the central idea of spintronics[1]. While a number of commercially successful applications of this already exist (most prominently as memory for computers), many proposed

Field Dependent Charge Carrier Transport for Organic Semiconductors at the Time of Flight Configuration

In this paper, we used the time-of-flight (TOF) of a charge packet, that injected by a voltage pulse to calculate the drift velocity and mobility of holes in organic semiconducting polymers. The technique consists in applying a voltage to the anode and calculating the time delay in the appearance of the injected carriers at the other contact. The method is a simple way to determine the charge t...

Instability of Ultra-Spinning Black Holes

It has long been known that, in higher-dimensional general relativity, there are black hole solutions with an arbitrarily large angular momentum for a fixed mass [1]. We examine the geometry of the event horizon of such ultra-spinning black holes and argue that these solutions become unstable at large enough rotation. Hence we find that higher-dimensional general relativity imposes an effective...

Spinning Black Holes in (2 + 1)-dimensional String and Dilaton Gravity

We present a new class of spinning black hole solutions in (2+1)-dimensional general relativity minimally coupled to a dilaton with potential ebφΛ. When b = 4, the corresponding spinning black hole is a solution of low energy (2 + 1)-dimensional string gravity. Apart from the limiting case of the BTZ black hole, these spinning black holes have no inner horizon and a curvature singularity only a...

Oscillatory null singularity inside realistic spinning black holes

We calculate the asymptotic behavior of the curvature scalar (Riemann)2 near the null weak singularity at the inner horizon of a generic spinning black hole, and show that this scalar oscillates infinite number of times while diverging. The dominant parallelly-propagated Riemann components oscillate in a similar manner. This oscillatory behavior, which is in a remarkable contrast to the monoton...

Energy Extraction from Spinning Black Holes Via Relativistic Jets

It has for long been an article of faith among astrophysicists that black hole spin energy is responsible for powering the relativistic jets seen in accreting black holes. Two recent advances have strengthened the case. First, numerical general relativistic magnetohydrodynamic simulations of accreting spinning black holes show that relativistic jets form spontaneously. In at least some cases, t...
